Leprosy still occurs in more than 100 countries worldwide.

10% of all new cases are children.

More than 50 children a day are diagnosed with Leprosy

4 million people.

Four million people have disabilities as a result of leprosy.

Leprosy is totally curable.

Today, the disease is easily treated with a combination of antibiotics.

Most people are immune to it.

Leprosy is contagious, but 95% of all humans are immune to it.

Rotarians can help.

We are seeking partners in a Rotary International grant for South Pacific region that identifies, treats and prevents the most horrific outcomes of leprosy. Health care workers in Papua New Guinea have forgotten how to recognize and diagnose leprosy. Rotarian's can play a key role in funding this education by partnering with The Leprosy Mission in Papua New Guinea aboard YWAM ships to upskill locals in recognition, testing, and monitoring.
